Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery brought together examples created with different forms of practice in contemporary art with the exhibition Freedom of The Form, consisting of the works of important international names between January 17 and February 13, 2022.
A selection of paintings, sculptures and video works by Peter Halley, Robert Janitz, Rosy Keyser, Tony Cragg and Sara Ludy, who have taken their place in the collections of important museums and institutions around the world, will meet the audience on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of Villa Ipranosyan with the installation of our founder Sevil Dolmacı.
Freedom of The FormFor the first time, Istanbul art lovers will have the opportunity to see the abstract paintings of American artist Rosy Keyser and the video works of Sara Ludy, who is highly talked about for her work titled Astral Garden for Valentino.
American artist Peter Halley (1953 -), the most important representative of the NeoGeo art movement that emerged in New York in the 1970s, is the focal point of the exhibition with Day-Glo colors, computer-generated cells and specific works from the 2000s. On the same floor, Peter Halley is accompanied by two sculptures from the 2000s, one in wood and the other in iron, by Turner Prize-winning British sculptor Tony Cragg (1949 -). On the second floor of the space, Rosy Keyser (1974 -), who draws attention with her unique technique, redefines the freedom of form and thus the freedom of the two-dimensional canvas with the use of unusual materials such as horsehair and suspenders on canvas. Keyser and Sara Ludy (1980 -) on the second floor Deep Pond The video art work titled "The Form" completes the exhibition as another work that demonstrates that form can be manipulated. Robert Janitz (1962 - ), one of the artists of the Sevil Dolmacı Art Residency program, with his works produced in Istanbul using resin and oil paint and bearing traces of the city. on the third floor carries the exhibition to another atmosphere. The productions form a holistic structure within the exhibition with both harmonious and contradictory forms of application that change/emancipate according to the floors.
