Sevil Dolmacı Gallery Dubai is proud to present Unfolded Layers, a new solo exhibition by
Ahmet Oran one of the foremost figures in contemporary art—on view from October 27
to November 20, 2025.
Unfolded Layers features a new series of works that delve deeply into the artist’s long-
standing exploration of layer, surface, and memory concepts that lie at the very heart of
his artistic practice.
In Oran’s abstract compositions, paint is not merely applied; it is also scraped, erased, and
rebuilt. Each trace reflects both action and erasure. This dynamic process reveals the
artist’s creative oscillation between construction and removal, offering a powerful metaphor
for the instability of memory, time, and perception.
The works can be read as accumulations of gestures and movements beyond what
appears on the surface. Textures unveil hidden rhythms; muted color fields generate a
quiet yet intense vibration. Within these ambiguous spaces, Oran transforms abstraction
into a language of introspection and existence. The viewer is invited not to a depiction, but
to a journey of discovery and contemplation.
