Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery is hosting the first solo exhibition of Mexican artist Bosco Sodi in Turkey between September 21 and October 28. The exhibition titled "The Silence of Form" consists of the artist's works realized in his studios in Mexico, America and Europe.

The artist, who creates his works with natural materials and tones, uses clay as the basis of his productions. The imperfection, impermanence and naturalness of clay is one of the reasons for Sodi's preference.

Mexican artist Bosco Sodi utilizes the cultural richness, philosophies and material possibilities offered by the geographies of these countries in his works realized in workshops designed by world-renowned architects in Mexico, America and Europe. For example, clay, which forms the basis of the artist's works, is a material widely used in the ancient civilizations of the American continent. The artist mixes clay with cellulose, sawdust and natural pigments that she discovers when she delves into the past of her own geography, creating unique works based on randomness. While Sodi places clay at the core of her practice, she also draws her reference from the Japanese Wabi-Sabi philosophy, which respects authenticity and embraces naturalness.

The artist creates his works, which usually consist of canvas and sculpture, through a meditative process based on creative intuition and serendipity, applying layers of a mixture of natural materials by hand. At the beginning of this process, when the wet material begins to dry and cracks and fissures appear, the artist allows nature to complete the process. In this way, Sodi's collaboration with nature turns into works that are completely coincidental and unpredictable.

Sodi deliberately leaves most of his works anonymous in order to avoid preconceptions and external associations. In this way, the viewer has the opportunity to enter into a common dialog with the artist.
