Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery is proud to host American artist Michael John Kelly's first solo exhibition "NOW WHAT" in Turkey. The artist, known for his abstract works, brings together the works he produced in Istanbul in different mediums such as oil paint on canvas, collage and mirror with Turkish art lovers between December 15, 2022 and January 2023.
Kelly, who received his Master's degree from UCLA, one of America's prestigious universities, in 2013, reflects the "noisy" and "chaotic" world of today, influenced by the abstract expressionist artists of the mid-20th century and science fiction. The artist describes his work as "a post-punk wall of sound that blends anime, video games and Willem de Kooning."
Most recently represented by Gavlak Gallery, Michael John Kelly has participated in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums in his native Utah and later in Los Angeles, Berlin, Miami, Basel and New York. He has been working at the Sevil Dolmacı Art Residency in Beşiktaş for some time now, where he has prepared a selection of 20 works by bringing together his past personal experiences as well as his experiences in Istanbul.
Those who want to see Kelly's exhibition "NOW WHAT" can direct their steps to Villa Ipranosyan, the jewel-like space of Sevil Dolmacı Art Gallery located in Beşiktaş Abbasağa.
