Sevil Dolmacı Gallery is preparing to exhibit a distinguished collection of influential international and Turkish artists at Contemporary Istanbul, in line with a strategy that emphasizes American contemporary art.
The gallery will present works of post-World War II American art that shaped global art history. The works of Peter Halley and David Salle, which will be exhibited for the first time in Istanbul, will meet art lovers. In addition to these masterpieces, elegant sculptures from BarryxBall's "Purity" series will also be on display. With their fine craftsmanship and historical references, these works will fascinate collectors and art lovers.
Emerging talents such as Eric Shaw, Royal Jarmon and Sam Jablon, whose works are in prestigious collections around the world, will also be featured. In a broader international context, the gallery will present innovative perspectives from countries such as Australia, Mexico and Ghana. Works by Mexico's Bosco Sodi, Australia's Mark Whalen and Ghana's Felix Awotvi will be on view.
Turkish contemporary art will also be strongly represented at the fair. Established artists such as Ekrem Yalçındağ, Ahmet Oran and Elvan Alpay, as well as emerging artists such as Gencay Aytekin, Tuna Özkaragöz and Melisa Mızraklı, will take part in the exhibition. Ekrem Yalçındağ will present a new surprise series from his "Natures" collection to art lovers for the first time at Contemporary Istanbul; this series will later take place in exhibitions in Cologne and Seoul.
After a six-year hiatus, Elvan Alpay will present her newest works with Sevil Dolmacı Gallery and make a big comeback at the fair. Tuna Özkaragöz, one of the gallery's most exciting new discoveries, will be presenting his first exhibition at Contemporary Istanbul.
