Sevil Dolmacı Gallery is pleased to participate in the 57th edition of Art Cologne, which will take place between November 7-10, 2024.
Sevil Dolmacı Gallery presents the works of world-renowned contemporary artists Ahmet Oran, Daniel Knorr, Ekrem Yalçındağ and Ross Bleckner at this important event where approximately 175 prestigious galleries present a wide range of international art. These artists, whose works are exhibited in important galleries and museums around the world, draw attention with their unique approaches.
Ahmet Oran exhibits his meticulously designed new works. Known for his sophisticated use of color, the artist creates layered surfaces on paper or canvas by scraping paint with spatulas of different widths. Oran's abstract paintings reveal hidden aspects of human experience through independent yet interconnected layers of memory.
Daniel Knorr is known for his balanced approach that integrates humor and seriousness in his art. The artist uses unusual materials in his works that draw attention to biopolitical, economic, historical and socio-political issues, encouraging viewers to think. Castings from runway pits and smoke-based installations are examples of this approach. Within the scope of the fair, Knorr presents pigment-enriched polyurethane castings from the "Canvas Sculptures" series inspired by historical places and objects, and the "Deep Surface - Self Portrait" series combining acrylic and marbling technique. While the "Canvas Sculptures" series makes the viewers experience the moment of birth of a thought, idea or a simple gesture, the "Deep Surface - Portrait|Self-Portrait" series brings the depths of the artist's perceptual world to the surface.
Ekrem Yalçındağ presents his new "Duality" series based on his "Natures" series of wood and silkscreen prints. The circular works of the "Duality" series occupy a special place among the circular paintings in contemporary art, bringing together two bold colors in a powerful dialogue. The way the colors both merge and keep their distance creates a striking effect that resonates especially in non-Western cultures. Yalçındağ's two-color circular compositions extend the tradition of Western abstract color painting, while at the same time drawing inspiration from the blue-and-white eye motif still prevalent today.
Ross Bleckner's works deal with themes of change, loss and memory, creating a "Memento Mori" effect that reminds the viewer of the transience of life. His ghostly and translucent images appearing on dark gray and illusionistic backgrounds make his works unique. Bleckner's works inspired by the optical reflections and color explosions seen after the eyes are closed will be on display at the fair.
