Tuba Elmas (b. 1993, Istanbul, Turkey) studied Business, Gender, and Discrimination at Koç University and earned a diploma in Art & Innovation. After studying Fashion Photography at Marangoni, she continued her education in Uruguay. Following her graduation, she turned to photography and began exploring the magic of typography and symbols. Living a life intertwined with art, Elmas has worked in various countries including Turkey, Italy, England, Mexico, Australia, the USA, and Uruguay. After opening her first photography exhibition at Bricklane Gallery, she began incorporating neon lights into her works. In 2017, she held her first neon exhibition at Soho House Istanbul and later collaborated with various Soho House venues. In 2021, she was a guest artist at THE EDITION HOTEL Bodrum and opened her solo exhibition titled 'LOST & FOUND'. In 2021, she was a guest artist at THE EDITION HOTEL Bodrum, where she opened her solo exhibition titled LOST & FOUND. In this exhibition, her works continuously renewed themselves for six months, and during the same period, she conducted workshops on neon. In 2023, she held her solo exhibition Elements of Sunset at Before Sunset Beach in Çeşme. In this exhibition, prepared in collaboration with Art With Me, she developed a panel that controlled neon lights synchronized with music and natural sounds. Through this interactive exhibition, visitors could create their own compositions and embark on a sensory journey through the fusion of light and sound.
A multidisciplinary artist, Tuba Elmas combines light with different materials to give new meanings to words. Through typography and symbols, she constructs a mysterious language in her art, inviting the viewer to decipher the codes of the alphabet she has created and to discover the enchantment of art.
