Mischa Kuball

Mischa Kuball (b. 1959, Düsseldorf) is a conceptual artist working in public and institutional spaces since 1977. Using light as her main medium, she investigates architectural spaces, sociocultural structures and political discourses, often reinterpreting their monumentality and historical significance. Her participatory projects blur the boundaries between public and private space, creating a dialog between the viewer, the artist and the environment. Kuball has been Professor of Public Art at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne since 2007 and taught Media Art at the University of Art and Design/ZKM in Karlsruhe from 2006 to 2008. In 2015 he became a member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of North Rhine-Westphalia and in 2016 he was awarded the German Light Prize.
