Felix Kwesi Awotwi

Felix Kwesi Awotwi (b. 1996, Ghana) is a contemporary Ghanaian painter whose practice explores identity, memory, and cultural heritage through expressive portraiture. His vibrant compositions feature striking Black figures set against richly colored backgrounds, often incorporating hand-stitched thread into painted surfaces. This distinctive use of thread references both his childhood experiences in Ghana and the country's textile traditions, transforming personal history into a visual language of resilience and belonging. Awotwi has exhibited internationally, including in Ghana, New York, and Istanbul.
