Sevil Dolmacı Gallery Takes Part in Art Abu Dhabi for the First Time
Sevil Dolmacı Gallery is excited to meet art lovers for the first time at Art Abu Dhabi, which will take place between November 20-24, 2024. Known for its dynamic art programs, installations, talks and exhibitions throughout the year, Art Abu Dhabi offers an important platform for artistic expression. At this year's fair, Sevil Dolmacı Gallery will exhibit the latest works by internationally recognized Turkish artists Ahmet Oran, Ekrem Yalçındağ and Nevin Aladağ, who are prominent for their museum collaborations, as well as the works of Daniel Knorr, who represented Romania at the 2005 Venice Biennale.
With "Material Matters", the gallery brings together different approaches to materials that reflect the artists' geographical influences and shared concerns. The collection emphasizes humanity's critical role in the ecological chain, suggesting that respectful and constructive interaction between humans, the environment and all living species is essential for a balanced ecosystem. The works explore the effects of the changing ecosystem on human life today and in the future. Aladağ, Knorr, Oran and Yalçındağ invite the audience to reflect on the concept of balance and gain awareness with their installations made of wood, copper, oil paint, polyurethane and textiles of different origins.

- Daniel Knorr suggests taking an ecosystem-protective approachby promoting sustainability.
- Ekrem Yalçındağ references the dynamic changes of ecosystems over time by reproducing natural forms with wood printing techniques.
- Nevin Aladağ symbolizes the duality between natural and artificial by combining materials such as silk, raw and industrial wool carpets, rugs and fabrics, as well as copper, a natural metal.
The artists reflect influences from different geographies in their works, interpreting common themes in unique ways. Artists living in different cities, such as Oran (Istanbul and Vienna), Knorr (Berlin and Hong Kong), Yalçındağ (Frankfurt and Istanbul ) , blend local influences with their personal heritage to develop their own unique artistic approaches.
